We’ve been planning this big life change over the last 5 months, and sometimes it genuinely doesn’t feel real. Almost feels like nothing ground-breaking or life-changing is even on the horizon…but…it is. Like, really soon.
Yet here we are. Still buying groceries from the same store. Cooking in the same kitchen. Washing the same dishes. Sleeping in the same beds. Putting clothes away in the same drawers. Riding on the same backyard zip-line.
But in about 4ish (?) weeks? We’ll be in a camper. AS OUR HOME. Saying that out loud feels nuts, sometimes haha..
So here’s what we’ve accomplished so far:
-
sold our van
-
purged our things
-
held a garage sale
-
sold and purged more things
-
sold our Tundra truck
-
flew to Tampa to shop for a camper and decide
-
ordered a new camper
-
repainted the interior of our house
-
sold our 30’ camper
-
bought a bigger truck
-
put our house up for sale
-
flew to South Dakota to get our residency lined up there (and got to see grandma and grandpa for the week!)
-
purged MORE things
-
acquired a mini dishwasher AND washer and dryer for the rig
-
under contract with our house, due diligence behind us, and a closing date scheduled
What’s left
-
close on the house (our buyer requested a long closing and this was advantageous for both of us)
-
do a final sell/purge (this one will be the hardest)
-
pack things for storage and bring them to storage
-
pack things for the camper
-
finish the school year
-
get inspections done on our camper
-
move into our new camper
-
sell our Tesla!
-
book our first campsite nearby so we can get used to our rig while still somewhere familiar and finish out the school year
-
start planning the first leg of our travels!
We are expecting to move into the camper officially about the last week of April. It’s wild to think about! In fact, it should be transported from Indiana to our dealership this week or next. We still have Easter coming up, meals, school, work travel, making time for play and rest, tons of errands to procure items for storage in the camper, ordering things we usually order but won’t be able to in a few weeks (!!) and so on…
Sometimes it crosses my mind that the skincare I buy from Trader Joes, I’ll now have to stock up on since I won’t have that at my fingertips! Just lots of little things like that. So this last while with a permanent address has hit me in a weird way and I’ve been panic shopping – haha! While also trying to remember we are trying to NOT acquire more stuff!
That’s the update! I’m looking forward to having our rig and giving you all a tour 🙂 She’s a big beaut. Let’s also not forget that shorty will also have to get used to driving an F450 dually around as her daily driver. Pray for everyone on the road hahaha oh lawd.
soaking in our last spring in this yard and home <3
